This poll today leads one to think so.
"...viable"? Define viable.
"...still ..viable "? It never was or ever can be. But the Globe seems to think so.
Canada’s best (worst?) example of the viability of socialism, state monopoly health-care, exhibits all the characteristics of typical socialist ‘enterprise’: shortages, long queues, multiple five-year plans and ‘fixes for a generation’, intense politicization, bureaucratic inertia and incipient collapse.
Funny thing was, when I voted in this poll early this morning (there were only a couple hundred votes at the time) it was in the reverse with the majority saying NO.....
ReplyDeleteWith regard to health care, I'm hoping more Canadians are seeing the problems with our system. Unfortunately, with Michael Moore's new movie coming out, the message is that socialist health care works and capitalist health care is heartless. This simply isn't true but Canada wouldn't be Canada without some Anti-Americanism. Too bad most Canadian media doesn't cover how parallel health care works in Europe.
Crypto-Communists?
ReplyDeleteThis is the loyal readership of the G&M you're talking about!
It's not that they are crypto-coms or just socialist by bent.
What they are is misinformed and not very bright in the first place!
PGP,
ReplyDeleteThat's a good alternative theory.:) But of course that description also applies to commies.
"Funny thing was, when I voted in this poll early this morning (there were only a couple hundred votes at the time) it was in the reverse with the majority saying NO....."
ReplyDeleteWell that is unusual, because when I went online at about 6 pm EST, the poll was not inverse and the socialist side was about 60 for. And that was with about 4000 votes cast.
I added another one with a big thumbs up. I was lovin it!
