"The Criminal Code authorizes people to use as much force as necessary to protect themselves and their property," [an RCMP spokesman] said. "However, that force must be the minimum amount necessary."Hmm, "the minimum amount necessary". That’s a close enough paraphrasing of the law - which, to my mind, discourages self defense and gives way too much leeway for weasely after-the-fact interpretation. How does one decide what’s ‘just enough’ force in the midst of what could well be a fight for one’s life?
It’ll be interesting to see how this unfolds.
it would appear we will soon have to defend ourselves from the rcmp.

ReplyDeleteYou must wait for a tangible threat like death to exercise the force to prevent more death once your death is confirmed as a death.
THEN you can act in a way to cause some harm to the killer who is a victim of poverty and injustice.
This reminds me of the scene from Ghandi during a Military trial for a slaughter of civilians , the accused was asked if he gave aid to any civilian that was harmed and his response was " WE gave help to those who asked for it" .
So keep in mind folks that once you've been shot, stabbed, beaten to death, hacked up into pieces, and your kids a slaughtered along with you , THEN the Charter Of Rights kicks in to Protect the Victim and it's safe to crawl to the phone and call the RCMP because you now have grounds for defending your home and they may not Charge you for harming the killer.
Welcome to canada , have a nice stay .
I can assure you that if my life is threatened by someone else I will not only defend myself but I will incapacitate the person to the point that they will never threaten me again.
ReplyDeleteThe old saying is the best for these life & death situations. "Better to be tried by 12 than carried by six.
ReplyDeleteEveryone thinks that the people that broke in had weapons but they didn't so olineck was so scared of getting beat up he didn't use the night stand to hit norton he searched for his knife in the night stand and stabbed norton 3 times and then hansen 7 times in the back and 3 times in the side back wounds don't sound like self defence to me sounds like olineck just wanted too make sure they were both dead. and nobody ever said anything about the roomate Lucky being at nortons house while norton was at luckys house getting killed yep yep thats right Lucky was sitting in Norton's home with Norton's children & friends and knew Norton was going to his house and encouraged it funny what doesn't make the papers!!!!
