"One should doubtless keep an open mind...though open at both ends, like the food pipe, and have a capacity for excretion as well as intake." -- Northrop Frye, 'The Great Code'
Cool! Stephen Harper got to meet Yo-Yo Ma! Lucky bastard!
But why would he pick such an awful song? I mean, BEATLES??? Perhaps 'musicals' rank even lower on the 'soul-less formula-writing' scale of pop pseudo-music, but not by much. It's right down there with Michael Jackson and Britney Spears...
I thought it was great too, Alberta Girl. And only his enemies, including most of the stinking media, keep pressing that "angry, humourless" trope/tripe.
Xanthippa, I think he picked it for several reasons. It's a catchy, funny, simple song he was less likely to botch than others. Everyone knows it and most like it if for no other reason than nostalgia. Ie very popular with "the people". It was an excellent choice. Also I read somewhere that Harper is a Beatles fan.
Perfect!!!

That was G.R.E.A.T. Really. I'm starting to believe Harper didn't chose the right profession for him. This suits him much better than leading Canada.
