If they hadn’t, it would be rather difficult to drop the ball in Time Square on New Year’s Eve.
Would we really want to live in a period of time where glaciers were growing?
The glaciers were growing during the 1960s and 70s and it was "all our fault", due to all the aerosols and particulates we were emitting. So our great sin is actually that we have not managed to keep the climate stable. Let's call this the Goldilocks Delusion.
