Dumb-assed Post editorial trashed by readers
Today's National Post editorial "Don’t help drunk drivers get away with it" was, deservedly, given a big thumbs down by readers. What's with the Post these days? Too much Jonathan Kay?
Why are there repeat offenders, guess they were not fined or charged when caught. Maybe now all those who have been stopped, under the limit, will realize what farmers have been fighting for years re the gun registry. Face it, you will never get all the drivers who have had a drink or two off the roads.
I;ve worked in a lower class bar while in college. Then I worked in construction and lately in the oil field. I've seen more than my share of drunk drivers.
The ones who are the danger aren't the guys who have 2 beers then go home. The danger lies in the inncorrigible slobbering piss tank fuck who despite losing his license forever WON"T STOP DRINKING AND DRIVING!
This low lifes won't figure it out not even after they've killed somebody and some bleeding heart asshole judge lets them off with a scolding.
Xactly Anon, The real problem is with drivers having BACs well over .08 (not to mention those bleeding heart judges). Cops harassing and penalizing drivers with less than .08 is a useless violation of rights and freedoms.
If the bug-eyed shrieking soccer moms of MADD really wanted to accomplish something against drunk drivers then they would picket and protest in front of the court house the next time some touchy feely liberal FEMALE judge decides that having the accused get in touch with their inner child is preferable to actual jail.
Picket and accuse the judge BY NAME! and the defence lawyer too.
Something along the lines of a sign that says "Judge Mary Smith thinks a child's life is worth a $5000 fine!"
OR "Lawyer Lawrence G. Scumbag paid for his BMW by freeing my kid's killer! (And he's PROUD OF IT!)
I don't think I can ever remember comments against an editorial in the NP being so unanimous. Just another reason why I made the choice to drop the subscription.
"It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their consciences." -- C. S. Lewis

Internet usage restrictions, now that's silly.
I think the editorial was sponsored by MADD.
Not ONE positive comment at the NP site, they "urinated in the punch bowl" on this one.

Yup, it's MADDness. They won't stop at .05 BAC either. They won't be happy till it's at zero.

Canada is becoming a police state. And the police need money. There's no money in going after criminals, and they might fight back.
