What an insightful comment. I can see you've really thought the issue through.
ReplyDeleteYep .. I read the notice and went to the Massage of Piece instead ....
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly did you find objectionable about Kay's column?
ReplyDeleteOK, Anon, for starters, any conference of "moderate" Muslims discussing how hard-done-by Muslims are should be immediately off-putting to any infidel 'pundit' - especially a Jewish one like Kay. No doubt the organizers knew that the liberal Kay would likely to buy into their sense of grievance, and hence be 'useful'.
ReplyDeleteSecond, take a peek at Robert Spencer's post on How the term "Islamophobia" got shoved down your throat. Then re-read Kay's column.
And, there's a lot more in the comments to Kay's piece.
Given that pseudo-scholars like Pamella Geller are now being taken seriously as are anti-mosque zoning proposals, the Islamophobia complaint is much harder to dismiss out of hand. There are people who seriously believe Sharia is a threat in North America! Crazy!
