Dim-witted doctors

Brian Lilley:
The Canadian Medical Association ... is currently holding a General Council meeting in Yellowknife. The doctors decided to raise the issue of abortion and their fear that a motion by Conservative MP Stephen Woodworth might spell the end of abortion.
Two of the dimwits:
Montreal physician Dr. Genevieve Desbiens ... “This attempt to modify the definition of a human being could legally recognize the fetus, which would give the fetus rights. This constitutes a recriminalization, not only of abortion, but any form of contraception.”

Dr. Carole Williams, of Victoria, said the private member’s motion “is a back-door way for government to reopen Roe versus Wade,” the 1973 decision that legalized abortion in the United States.

  1. Keep in mind that above all and foremost these are agenda-driven political activists ahead of being "doctors". The same applies to the chiefs of police across the country. Their political agenda trumps health care, or in the case of the chiefs of police law enforcement.

  2. What liberals need to have burned (as with a CD) into their brains is that we don't define things like "human", "murder" and "marriage". Those concepts were understood long before any government, court or religion presumed to mess with their meanings.

  3. I think that Dr. Williams needs to go back to school. Apparently, in elementary school, it wasn't taught to her that we are a different legal jurisdiction than the US and that US court decisions have no bearing on the Canadian justice system.

  4. oxygentax: By her measure, we should be honouring the SCOTUS decisions that legalize open carry and concealed carry of handguns in canada.

Liberals don't actually believe in full reciprocity though, just reciprocity in what they think are okay.

  5. Roe vs Wade is more restrictive than no law whatsoever on abortion. So yes, give us "our" Roe vs Wade. Give us a trimester framework upon which to permit restrictions on abortions. Allow us to pass statutes which ban some 2nd and 3rd trimester abortive procedures.
