Algerian seige - Canadian Islamists among terrorists?

Daily Telegraph:
Reports in Algeria suggested that two of the 30 kidnappers were Canadian nationals. Survivors of the siege also claimed that one of the terrorists has a "North American accent".

A spokesman for Canada's ... DFAIT confirmed to The Daily Telegraph that representatives from the department had been in touch with the Algerian authorities to try to establish whether Canadians were among the terrorists. ...
Reuters:
An Algerian security source had earlier told Reuters that documents found on the bodies of two militants had identified them as Canadians: "A Canadian was among the militants. He was coordinating the attack," [Algerian PM] Sellal said, ... That Canadian's name was given only as Chedad.
Meanwhile:
David Cameron criticised the BBC for describing the perpetrators of the Algeria hostage attack as “militants” instead of condemning them as “terrorists”. ...

Predictably, the CBC is similarly inclined to use weasel words, unlike the National Post.

  1. I think the sad thing here that we as Canadians should be concerned about is how many of these people will now immigrate to Canada as refugees?

The issue of whether or not they were or are terrorists is moot in my opinion. Cause now were going to have all of the eastern bleeding hearts in Ottawa putting on a multicultural, compassionate show of typical Canadian liberal loving fashion.

“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

We can have Peter MacKay, Vic Toews and PM Harper all there welcoming them. Oh yeah lets invite our Canadian pride and joy, the true Canadian representation of multiculturalism; omar khadr and hair due justin trudeau (in lieu of his dad you know!).

  2. I'll wait and see if they really are Canadians before commenting on the Algerian situation,or if they're just holding Canadian passports that were stolen.

It's also quite likely they're more Canadians of convenience, like those 60,000 C-of-c's in Lebanon.

I'm old fashioned, and the cheapening of Canadian citizenship by Liberal AND PC governments has angered a lot of us who know our history.

This Country should play second fiddle to none in the hearts of it's citizens.I disagree vehemently with dual citizenship.

Canada; love it or leave it! And if that sounds redneck-ish,so be it.

BUT,on the bright side,IF some of those terrorists ARE Canadians, this will give Harper more ammo to tighten up immigration regs even further.

  3. And also on the bright side, it'll give our local security orgs more impetus to go after Islamists still here radicalizing, recruiting and plotting.
