Socialism for the Uninformed

Thomas Sowell:
Socialism sounds great. It has always sounded great. And it will probably always continue to sound great. It is only when you go beyond rhetoric, and start looking at hard facts, that socialism turns out to be a big disappointment, if not a disaster. ...

  1. Socialism leads to oppression of the poor. How can we enlighten people and help people understand that giving people free stuff will not improve their life. Teaching and educating and providing the jobs is the only way to make life better

  2. I second fhl's comment. The only way to get yourself out of poverty is being able to generate your own wealth. The redistribution that governments seem so fond of is destruction of wealth. More can be done with one person with a millions dollars than one million people with one dollar. Socialism is simply about power and control. It has no other benefits.

  3. Socialism is communism for cowards. It is exactly the same thing except that it is brought about through incrementalism and at a slower pace. As with communism only the few in control have wealth (stolen from others of course) and the benefits of the high life.
