"One should doubtless keep an open mind...though open at both ends, like the food pipe, and have a capacity for excretion as well as intake." -- Northrop Frye, 'The Great Code'
I had NO idea this was one of those "days",so being the peasant I am, went to the flea market this morning then watched Montreal beat Saskabush in the CFL on TSN.
Later,I may walk the dog. But I wasn't warned in advance that THIS is a BIG DAY,or I might have done something different.
btw,I have NO light on at this moment,so that proves I'm Green, doesn't it?
Thank God for the Christopher Monkton's of this world, who worked so hard to expose these bloody con-artists of the AGW scam.
I'd recommend CM for the Nobel Prize, but it might embarrass them to give it to him.
I'm not sure whether to scratch my head or bang my head against the wall.
The depleted ozone layer (still depleted) has not been in the news lately because something was done about it with the Montreal Protocol. If the Ozone layer were to continue to thin, we would face big problems. Does anyone seriously doubt that? And does anyone doubt that CFCs and other ozone depleting substances emitted by humans are responsible for the continuing ozone holes we've seen?
The British House of Lords has disavowed any association with the embarrassing Christopher Monckton.
Monckton claimed to be a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Al Gore and the IPCC because he supposedly sent the IPCC a letter pointing out something that needed to be corrected in a draft report. At one point he said the claim to be a Nobel laureate was all a joke, but it has continued to be posted by Monckton in his bio at the Science and Public Policy Institute, and the sorts of people who believe Monckton have often repeated the claim with a straight face. (This brings up an important question. On whom was Monckton playing the joke?)
Monckton claimed that he has developed a cure for Graves’ Disease, AIDS, Multiple Schlerosis, the flu, and the common cold. This is no joke–he actually filed an application to patent a “therapeutic treatment” in 2009. Is it homeopathy? Massive doses of vitamin C? The world waits with bated breath.
I think the more important criticisms of Monckton have to do with his specific scientific claims, which are often dead wrong.
Peter Hadfield, aka Potholer54, has done a number of videos on Monckton, and has said he is willing to debate him (but Monckton thus far has been too busy to debate him).
I'm posting links to Peter Hadfield's videos below. If you want to check Hadfield's claims about Monckton, I might be able to help with that. (I have access at the moment to scientific journal articles through my library).

Anon, Yes and yes.
