Jonathan Kay - useful idiot

Assessing the state of Islamophobia in Canada

... last Saturday night I appeared as a panelist at the “Message of Peace: Countering Islamophobia” conference, hosted by the University of Toronto’s Muslim Students’ Association and ICNA Canada.

[...]
Just being invited to such a conference is proof of Kay's useful idiocy.

What an insightful comment. I can see you've really thought the issue through.

What exactly did you find objectionable about Kay's column?

OK, Anon, for starters, any conference of "moderate" Muslims discussing how hard-done-by Muslims are should be immediately off-putting to any infidel 'pundit' - especially a Jewish one like Kay. No doubt the organizers knew that the liberal Kay would likely to buy into their sense of grievance, and hence be 'useful'.

Second, take a peek at Robert Spencer's post on How the term "Islamophobia" got shoved down your throat. Then re-read Kay's column.

And, there's a lot more in the comments to Kay's piece.

Given that pseudo-scholars like Pamella Geller are now being taken seriously as are anti-mosque zoning proposals, the Islamophobia complaint is much harder to dismiss out of hand. There are people who seriously believe Sharia is a threat in North America! Crazy!

Islam has come by its bad rep honestly. Radical Islam's extremism is on display everywhere and moderate Muslim condemnation of it is rare.

Any infidel who notices this and says so is labelled an "Islamophobe". Crazy!

The fact that Sharia is a huge threat in Britain and Europe is evidence that it's also a threat to North America. It's being aggressively promoted. Islam's useful idiots are infidel liberal apologists who deny it's a threat
