Free to be idiots
The town of New Denver, BC has apparently voted to ban all cell phones. Now they are perfectly free to do so - there's no law against being an idiot. Though, to be fair, the vote was close - only about half the town are idiots.
I actuallly think this is funny. The population of New Denver is about 550 or so. To my understanding there's no cell infrastructure there now. And I don't know if there was any plans to build a tower or not. This would be like the government of Equador banning glaciers.
Good point, Reid. It seems doubtful that it would be economic for Telus to install a cell site to service fewer than 500 people (actually just for the 110 that voted in favour of cell phones).
"It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their consciences." -- C. S. Lewis
