... are terrified they will become targets for hate mobs who have made death threats to the neighborhood vigilante.
Mark and Dana Michelle Gerstle told friends they do not want to talk publicly about Zimmerman for fear they will be accused of portraying him as a hero - and face a backlash from those who consider he got away with murder.
'They are very grateful to Zimmerman for what he did, but they do not want to get involved,' said a friend, who asked not to be named.
... The heroic rescue took place less than a mile from where Zimmerman shot 17 year old Martin in February 2012. ...This insanity is thanks:
1) to vile leftists who favor mob "justice"Assuming this story is accurate, good for Zimmerman - obviously he's a stand-up guy.
2) to a vile leftist media and race-baiters for misrepresenting the Zimmerman case, and
3) Barack Obama for stirring up racial resentment to satisfy his certifiably nuts, far-left base.
As for Mark and Dana Gerstle, I have mixed feelings. Given the leftist mob-justice mentality on display they're justifiably fearful for their family's safety. On the other hand, it would be better if they showed some courage. Maybe they'll step up soon.

Brownshirts using force to silence any dissenting voices. Sounds a lot like a Canadian University campus.
I notice one thing about this leftist intimidation & "mob justice". There is a lot of shouting & bluster & threats but very little action.
Take Spike Lee for example, Here is a man who is rich enought to hire an army of private investigators to seek out Zimmerman and break his legs.
But what does Lee do? He tries to post Zimmerman's adress on the internet, hoping someone else will do the heavy lifting.
If all this bluster were real action Zimmerman would be dead 100 times over by now.
People who are too lazy too contribute to society are probably too lazy to fight thier own battles.
If you believe the B.S. these people spout then you will be scared. When you realize it's just B.S. then it gets a little easier.

you probably hit it right on. spike lee I don't think is a coward or even lazy. I think he sees himself as far too important to be caught up in the dirty work. like a mob boss.
I say either US society breaks into shirts and skins and fights it out civil war style or they move on and try to impeach the guy in the white house who started this mess.

Saw on PBS a panel of four black community leaders talking about Obama's speech. The conservative church leader talked about, among other things, getting beyond the black 'culture of grievance', but the most leftist of the other leaders was having none of that.
I have to applaud those black leaders, mainly church leaders, who are helping black youth who have no fathers as role models.
