Although he's a Canadian, Steve Nash of Victoria has leaped sneakers first into the contentious immigration bill debate in Arizona.
... [Nash] appeared on ESPN yesterday and lashed out at the new bill that would allow Arizona police to stop and question people on reasonable suspicion of being illegal immigrants into the United States.
... Nash's stance doesn't surprise those who knew him in Victoria and who saw his sense of social justice emerging in school.
... "This league is very multicultural, including myself as a foreigner," he said.
"As a foreigner" Nash should mind his manners and stick his Canuck multi-culti "sense of social justice" where the sun don’t shine.
As for the Times Colonist author of the above story, he should try not to distort the facts. The Arizona law does not "... allow Arizona police to stop and question people on reasonable suspicion of being illegal immigrants ...".
Rush Limbaugh: "professional sports needs to man up":
... don't give us this superior, "I'm better than you are," multicultural
garbage ...

I hope that every American, regardless of where he lives, will stop and examine his conscience about this and other related incidents. This Nation was founded by men of many nations and backgrounds. It was founded on the principle that all men are created equal, and that the rights of every man are diminished when the rights of one man are threatened. All of us ought to have the right to be treated as he would wish to be treated, as one would wish his children to be treated, but this is not the case.
I know the proponents of this law say that the majority approves of this law, but the majority is not always right. Would women or non-whites have the vote if we listen to the majority of the day, would the non-whites have equal rights (and equal access to churches, restaurants, hotels, retail stores, schools, colleges and yes water fountains) if we listen to the majority of the day? We all know the answer, a resounding, NO!
Today we are committed to a worldwide struggle to promote and protect the rights of all who wish to be free. In a time of domestic crisis men of good will and generosity should be able to unite regardless of party or politics and do what is right, not what is just popular with the majority. Some men comprehend discrimination by never have experiencing it in their lives, but the majority will only understand after it happens to them.
Benito, you obviously don't have to pay for the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants who game the system, nor do you have to police them. Please save your social justice garbage for somebody who gives a damn.
Ask the people of the affected state how they feel. There is only one taxpayer to pay for your utopia.
“All Men are created equal”! The founders had it right, when attempting to form a perfect union and they also knew that they were not there yet but knew we one day would get there. Lincoln moved us forward as did JFK and LBJ. This Nation was founded by men of many nations and backgrounds. It was founded on the principle that all men are created equal, and that the rights of every man are diminished when the rights of one man are threatened.
It is my contention that this AZ law is not constitutional and will fail when challenged (unless they add more amendments), pretty funny for a law that many claim is perfect, it is like hitching your wagon to this dead white elephant. See you in court.
I think you're wrong on this one. this is a disgusting law. We all get to have an opinion, American or not.
Benito, get real! All nations have the "right" and responsibility to protect themselves from illegal alien invasions.
The lefty hysteria about this is ridiculous. The Arizona law provides strict measures to ensure citizens' rights are protected. It conforms with federal law and is intended to enable Arizona to enforce the laws the feds, up to now, have refused to enforce.
The "social justice" clowns appear to think that no one should be required to show documents proving citizenship, under any circumstances - which would amount to completely opening borders to all comers - thereby forfeiting national sovereignty. The southern border states are experiencing what a disaster that approach is.
Watch this video it spells it out so that an elementary school kid would understand.

This holds true for Canada and the rest of the developed world also. (real conservative)

Anon (real conservative). Excellent video, thanks.
Benito: “All Men are created equal”! Correct, all are equally free to apply to legally immigrate to the USA in accordance with US immigration law. No one who enters the country illegally should be given legal immigrant status, much less citizenship, ahead of those who enter legally. At best (ie. if not deported or jailed), illegals should go to the back of any existing legal immigration queue.
It is my contention that this AZ law is not constitutional and will fail when challenged (unless they keep adding more amendments), pretty funny for a perfect law, now why hitch your wagon to this dead white elephant? I do not understand. “See You In Court”.
