Bill Maher to Christia Freeland, on Islam - "people like you are the problem"
Good grief! What a moron - an all too typically liberal moron.
Maher couldn't have been more right. But he could have been a lot more brutal about it, like he would have been were he debating a conservative.
Update: Here's JJ McCullough on the same theme.

How multiculturalism fuels Western paralysis in dealing with radical Islam
... In terms of the challenge of radical Islam, multiculturalism manifests itself in the abstract with the notion that Islamists are simply the fundamentalist counterparts to any other religion. Islamic extremists are no different from Christian extremists ...An excellent essay, well worth the read and saving for future reference.
... In the end what is multiculturalism? A global neurosis. For its elite architects, it is a psychological tic, whose loud professions square the circle of enjoying guilt-free the material comfort that only the West can provide. For the rest, multiculturalism is a sort of fraud, a mechanism to blame something that one secretly desires in lieu of addressing the causes of personal or collective self-induced misery.
...
And, for a good example of a multi-cult "useful idiot" that fits Mr. Hanson's decription here's "Harry Potter" billionairess, J.K. Rowling.

How our immigration system went wrong
... The assumption, unspoken but taken for granted until the 1960s, was that immigration was beneficial as long as it was designed to serve the interests of the host society first.
... It was in the past 40 years that the immigrant of dubious loyalty emerged, followed by the disloyal native-born, sometimes of immigrant ancestry, sometimes of Islamic conversion. The new immigrant seemed ready to share the West’s wealth but not its values.
... How did this come about? Three reasons stand out.
One, we retreated from the principle that immigration should serve the interests of the host country first. ....... When Canada is no longer regarded as a culture, with its own traditions and narratives, but a clean slate for anyone to write on what he will, immigrants of the new school will be ready with their own texts, including some that aren’t very pleasant.
Next, we tried to turn this liability into an asset by promoting multiculturalism....
Finally, in fundamentalist Islam, we’ve come up against a culture for which the very concept of rendering to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s is alien. ...

"Nothing says 'inclusive' like racial segregation"
Diversity and Inclusion - To be cultivated, obviously, with racial segregation:
If it were only Hamilton College infecting young minds with this kind of insanity it might be funny. But nearly every university and college in North America has similar programs doing similar damage to millions of students and wasting untold $billions. It's an unmitigated disaster. In order to create a safe space, this programme is open to people of colour only. A similar conversation for white students, faculty and staff is planned for the spring semester. You see, it’s a “conversation,” one that’s all about “healing and mutual respect” and “engaging with diverse views.”
I’m actually rather tickled by the notion of students needing a “safe space” at Hamilton College, an elite New York liberal arts college with an endowment of around three-quarters of a billion dollars and where tuition is a mere $46,ooo, excluding room and board. This, after all, is one of the most cossetting and exquisitely PC environments on the face of the Earth. ...

The niqab (aka 'the vile veil') - a Post Media puff-piece
This column is a puff-piece (by and for gullible Westerners) promoting Islamist ideology.
Very few Muslim women residing in the West wear the niqab or burka. With the exception of the most repressive nations (eg Saudi Arabia) many Muslim women elsewhere don’t wear it either. Some are forced to do so by radical Muslim patriarchal authority figures for cultural/religious reasons. Others, the most radicalized of Muslim women, claim to choose to do so also for religious/cultural reasons. Either way it is the most radical of Muslim women who wear the niqab or burka in Western countries. Tarik Fatah has said that it is a deliberate flashing of a middle finger to Western infidels.
Radical Islam makes no bones about its hostility to Westerners and to Western values (including gender equality among other personal freedoms). It seeks to propagate its hostile ideology in the West through propaganda and subversive legal tactics. It also poses a serious direct threat to security and safety (remember 9/11 and the Toronto 18).
Is Minna Ella a radical Muslim? Some evidence (from least to most significant):
(1) her claim of theological justification for wearing the niqab is highly debatable. It’s a point of contention even among Islamic scholars. Most Muslim women don’t wear it.
(2) she chooses to wear a niqab knowing full-well that most of her fellow citizens are intimidated by it or, at best, uncomfortable with it. This is not what you’d call sociable behaviour.
(3) she works as an administrator for a school sponsored by the Muslim Association of Canada (MAC). According to one report (Ref below) "The MAC are adherents to the teachings of Hassan Al Banna, an admirer of Hitler, the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, and a preacher of genocidal jihad against Kuffars [infidels]."

Religion of Peace (Canuck branch) uses ex-KKK boss to promote anti-Zionism
Meanwhile Xanthippa notes that the National Post's Stewart Bell 'broke' the story a week later than Sassy without acknowledgement. On the good news side of that, at least the Post printed the story. How many other MSM outlets did?

Leftist indoctrination in engineering
Lubos Motl gives us an example of how it's also happening even in engineering faculties:
The left-wing indoctrination that has overtaken a significant portion of the Western college education is often being discussed but every new example of this phenomenon disappoints us again. It's really bad.
Penn State University is the place that openly harbors the father of the infamous hockey stick graph. And you bet that it's not just one defective researcher who happens to be employed by a random school: the whole atmosphere at that college has been rebuilt to match Michael Mann.

Iggy weasels-in on Justin's fiasco
"... There's no such thing as an honour killing, there's only killing and it's a crime everywhere,"And Mark Steyn points out:
Unfortunately, in wacky Pakistan, “moderate” Jordan and many places in between, the law distinguishes between “killing” (which is a crime) and killing a woman because she’s dishonored your family (which often gets reported as a suicide or accident or, if brought to court at all, results in acquittal or desultory six-month sentences). Indeed, failing to commit an honor killing is itself a form of dishonor ...

Debating the multicult
Whether we like it or not – and there’s not much to like – events could force a national debate on whether multiculturalism is working in Canada. He'll no doubt be shocked when he finds out from the nearly 1400 comments that almost everyone thinks he's a moron. As Blazing Cat Fur put it, he got "his poncy ass kicked".
... The country will survive a debate over multiculturalism, even if we may not be able to prevent one.
Mark Steyn on Ibbitson's column.
And over at Climbing Out of the Dark, Hunter comments on the growing list of national leaders who've declared the multicult a flop/disaster.

Muslims distort history, subvert education
State testmakers played favorites when quizzing high-schoolers on world religions -- giving Islam and Buddhism the kid-gloves treatment while socking it to Christianity, critics say.
Teachers complain that the reading selections from the Regents exam in global history and geography given last week featured glowing passages pertaining to Muslim society but much more critical essay excerpts on the subject of Christianity.
The Muslim reading:David Barton speaking on the Glenn Beck show attributed these distortions, in part, to the subversive activities of the Council on Islamic Education:
* “Wherever they went, the Moslems [sic] brought with them their love of art, beauty and learning. From about the eighth to the eleventh century, their culture was superior in many ways to that of western Christendom.
* “Some of the finest centers of Moslem life were established in Spain. In Cordova, the streets were solidly paved, while at the same time in Paris people waded ankle-deep in mud after a rain. Cordovan public lamps lighted roads for as far as ten miles; yet seven hundred years later there was still not a single public lamp in London!”
The Christian reading:
Common Procedures used by Friars in Converting Areas in Spanish America:
* “Idols, temples and other material evidences of paganism destroyed.”
* “Christian buildings often constructed on sites of destroyed native temples in order to symbolize and emphasize the substitution of one religion by the other.”
* “Indians supplied construction labor without receiving payment.”
The Council has been accused of "pressuring American textbook publishers to revise their respective curricula to promote an extremist and revisionist view of Islam."
Critics have called the Council "a content gatekeeper with virtually unchecked power over publishers" and allege that "as a result, history textbooks accommodate Islam on terms that Islamists demand."
A report of the American Textbook Council calls the Council "an agent of contemporary censorship," and accuses it of being "in fact a political advocacy organization" that seeks to present an "Islamist" version of history.Subversion and distortion by Islamists is par for the course. What's extremely hard to accept is that the po-mo, leftist useful idiots who infest the education system and publishing industry are permitted to let them get away with this disgusting crap.

Steve Nash wades into Arizona politics
Although he's a Canadian, Steve Nash of Victoria has leaped sneakers first into the contentious immigration bill debate in Arizona.
... [Nash] appeared on ESPN yesterday and lashed out at the new bill that would allow Arizona police to stop and question people on reasonable suspicion of being illegal immigrants into the United States.
... Nash's stance doesn't surprise those who knew him in Victoria and who saw his sense of social justice emerging in school.
... "This league is very multicultural, including myself as a foreigner," he said.
"As a foreigner" Nash should mind his manners and stick his Canuck multi-culti "sense of social justice" where the sun don’t shine.
As for the Times Colonist author of the above story, he should try not to distort the facts. The Arizona law does not "... allow Arizona police to stop and question people on reasonable suspicion of being illegal immigrants ...".
Rush Limbaugh: "professional sports needs to man up":

The killings at Fort Hood
... a glimpse of a potentially fatal flaw at the heart of what we have called, since 9/11, the "war on terror."
... [Hasan's] superior officers and other authorities knew about his beliefs but seemed to think it was just a bit of harmless multicultural diversity – as if believing that "the Muslims should stand up and fight against the aggressor" (i.e., his fellow American soldiers) and writing Internet paeans to the "noble" "heroism" of suicide bombers and, indeed, objectively supporting the other side in an active war ...
... we're scrupulously nonjudgmental about the ideology that drives a man to fly into a building or self-detonate on the subway, and thus we have a hole at the heart of our strategy ...
... that's the problem: America has the best troops and fiercest firepower, but no strategy for throttling the ideology that drives the enemy – in Afghanistan and in Texas.
