Immigration and liberal stupidity

Liberals feel that learning French or English is too "burdensome" for newcomers
More proof of this absurdity is forthcoming every day with the latest being the Liberals' moves to undo the previous government's common sense immigration reforms, including relieving new immigrants of the "burden" of learning one of the official languages:
Liberals aren't just stupid, they're ridiculous morons.

How our immigration system went wrong
... The assumption, unspoken but taken for granted until the 1960s, was that immigration was beneficial as long as it was designed to serve the interests of the host society first.
... It was in the past 40 years that the immigrant of dubious loyalty emerged, followed by the disloyal native-born, sometimes of immigrant ancestry, sometimes of Islamic conversion. The new immigrant seemed ready to share the West’s wealth but not its values.
... How did this come about? Three reasons stand out.
One, we retreated from the principle that immigration should serve the interests of the host country first. ....... When Canada is no longer regarded as a culture, with its own traditions and narratives, but a clean slate for anyone to write on what he will, immigrants of the new school will be ready with their own texts, including some that aren’t very pleasant.
Next, we tried to turn this liability into an asset by promoting multiculturalism....
Finally, in fundamentalist Islam, we’ve come up against a culture for which the very concept of rendering to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s is alien. ...

Feds funding Palestinian hate organization
To:
Jason Kenney, Minister of CIC, minister@cic.gc.ca
James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage, Moore.J@parl.gc.ca
Subject: Federal funding of Palestine House
Dear Ministers:
According to NGO Monitor the Canadian government has spent or committed to spending approximately $4 million (2008 through 2010) in support of the activities of Palestine House Educational (PHE) of Mississauga, Ont.
According to information obtained from the RCMP through FOI (see also Part 2 and Part 3), PHE has been engaged in promoting anti-Israeli, anti-Semitic hatred.
Though Canadian taxpayer funding is, ostensibly, for immigrant "settlement and education" it is clear that PHE is engaged in activities that run counter to Canadian values and the public good. It is inappropriate for the Canadian government to fund such an organization in any way, for any purpose. If you insist on funding "settlement and training" for Palestinian immigrants, find another way to do it.
You are urged to cut off all funding for PHE and for any other organization engaged in similarly objectionable activities.
Sincerely,
Cc:

What a farce! Mexican “refugees” from the U.S.A.
Now, thanks to a Florida crackdown on illegal immigrants, they’re in Canada claiming "refugee" status and soaking up social services, health services, legal services and any other service the ‘Y’, ‘Sally Ann’ or government agency can think to point them to. All very expensive for the taxpayer.
No one can blame the Ortegas for taking advantage of the gullible Canadian refugee system. But they have NO credible claim as "refugees", NONE, and should therefore be refused entry at the border. Fat chance! They’re welcomed with open arms, apparently few questions asked:
When they told the border guard they were seeking refugee status, theOur idiotic "refugee" system seems to guarantee every claimant, no matter how flimsy the claim, the benefit of the doubt pending their case being heard by a refugee board. This is followed by 48 appeals, followed (maybe) by a deportation order, followed by sanctuary in a church basement, followed by a bleeding heart rally, followed by permanent residence in Canada.
Ortegas were given a list of social services organizations to contact for
support.

Poll - attitudes on immigration
Then there are pollsters and polls.
A recent Ipsos-Reid poll surveyed Canadians on their attitudes to immigration. Different people found different results:
According to Jack Aubry - Canadians becoming more positive toward immigrants:
Canadians today seem more comfortable with granting immigrants equal rights
and opportunities.
[...]
...90 per cent of Canadians disagreed with the view that newcomers should go back "to where they came from." [Hmmm! Harsh wording! But, any bets the other 10% were largely aboriginals?:]
Canadian attitudes toward cultural differences have hardened slightly over the past nine years. ["hardened"?]
[...]
58 per cent -- believe minorities should try to fit the traditionally Canadian mould. [A disappointingly low number. Or am I being too 'hard'?]
[...]
Older Canadians, Quebecers, and those without university degrees were most likely to believe in the concept of a cultural melting pot rather than a cultural mosaic. [This is mostly a measure of heavy multi-culti indoctrination at universities. And perhaps Ipsos-Reid wanted to show what neanderthals those fans of the ‘melting pot’ are.]
Interesting, sort of, but I’d like to know what the poll questions were.
