Kill the Indian Act

Gerry Agar has solid advice for Indians:

That was a paraphrase of Chief Clarence Louis',"if your life sucks,it's because YOU suck".

True, but no one really wants to hear that. Natives who wanted a better life for themselves left the Reserves a long time ago,the rest that are left, one has to conclude are satisfied with the way things are.

Once their houses are rebuilt or new houses built, the Indians of Attawapiskat will be quiet and will take their handouts, probably raised substantially after the latest "expose".

Attawapiskat should be OUT of the News for a few years, until they've trashed their nice, new houses, and are living in half-torn-down pigstys once again.

Then, another activist NDP or Liberal MP will raise the alarm,IF there's a Conservative government in power to be embarrassed, otherwise, not a word will be said.

Life will go on,and nothing will change except the names of the Indian politicians who are committed to maintaining the status quo.

What a colossal waste of time is this whole exercise. I don't expect any real action after the January Summit with Harper and the Chiefs,as the Chiefs don't want any changes.

So a few million tax dollars will be wasted on a the Summit, and a few billion more will be promised by the Government, and f*** all will change.

It's a 130 year old tradition.

kill indian affairs as well. 10 billion not million is spent by the governments on natives living on reserves. give them a 30 thousand dollar a year pension and let them figure out how to make it.they don't pay taxes and the land is also tax free should be a breeze for a family of four to live on 120k. the bureaucrats will have to get by on welfare.

Yup, the 'Chief's Summit' is another worthless exercise that the CBC and CTV will try to milk for headlines.

The Chiefs would be better off taking a seminar from Clarence Louie. More Louie quotes:

"Our ancestors worked for a living. So should you."

"You're going to lose your language and culture faster in poverty than you will in economic development"

And from Louie's mother about 'today's lazy aboriginal youth':

"Rent a plane, and fly them all to Iraq. Dump 'em off and all the ones who make it back are keepers."
