Former Gaia high priest says global warming is a religion

In an interview with the UK Guardian, James Lovelock, inventor of the Gaia hypothesis says he now thinks global warming is a religion:
Anyone who tries to predict more than five to 10 years is a bit of an idiot..."
... it is manifestly clear that he enjoys maddening the green movement. “Well, it’s a religion, really, you see. It’s totally unscientific.
And his views on fracking?
"he has withering contempt for environmentalists’ opposition to fracking. “You see, gas in America is incredibly cheap, because of fracking,” he says. But what about the risk of triggering earthquakes? He rolls his eyes."
How about nuclear energy?
"Even more heretical than his enthusiasm for fracking is Lovelock’s passionate support for nuclear power."
And why would a rabidly left wing rag like the Guardian publish this?
"Perhaps they are testing the water, to see how readers react." [Check out the comments.  But, whatever the reason, it's good publicity for the skeptical position. ]

That it is a religion is perfectly clear, just peruse J Trudeau's comments in the House as he readies Canada for a draconian carbon pricing scheme.
And the same people who shudder with revulsion at those expressing mainstream Christian beliefs, are perfectly comfortable with our planet as a deity. Buddhist or Muslim faiths are acceptable, just not anything overly Christian. That is part of the new Canadian values.

Yes, we're screwed, all right. This is where global warming hysteria has gotten us. Our best hope may just be Donald Trump's election. Having the USA adopt an aggressively pro-energy and high growth stance will make our planetary salvationism look all the more pointless and pathetic.

what I really love is being told by someone who just got of a plane from protesting man made climate change, that we have to lower OUR "carbon footpring"

The climate gestpo do present their doomsday prophecies like a religion don't they, but to me they're more like a cult than a religion. You know, like the Manson Family, communism or the NAZI's. The politics of deceit, theft and ultimate control but presented and sold as a religious like endeavor... something "righteous". PM Potato is like a David Koresh or a Jim Jones type character, but without any brains, just a shifty glassy eyed cult leader spewing his own gospel of lies. Like Ostinkfish down south Li"l Potato sells the absurd notion that only through taxation and less individual freedom will "salvation" be reached, a notion not based on science but rather based on, "faith". This is why Potato spews totalitarian edicts like "there is no other choice", presenting himself as a "saviour" or a "preacher", a self righteous messenger of the new religion, but certainly not a dictator ramming his ideological taxation schemes down your throat. Disbelief in the new religion is considered heresy and will always be met with ridicule and lawsuits... you will be made to shut up. Librano tax schemes will not give the Government power to control the climate, and no amount of "faith" is going to change that fact.
