Justin's plunging "inevitability" numbers

Warren Kinsella at the Hill Times:

Trudeau fires his Liberal Senators

Trudeau to his senators: You're fired!

Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau fired all his senators Wednesday morning.  And in doing so, the third party in the House of Commons effectively resigned its position as the official Opposition in the Senate. ...

... "These independent senators will no longer be part of the parliamentary and operational team of the Liberal Party of Canada," Trudeau later told reporters. "As far as political operatives, these senators will no longer be Liberal organizers, fundraisers, activists in any form."

... At first, these senators were stunned. But after an hour or two of talking it over, the gang Trudeau "fired" came out of their closed-door meeting to tell reporters that, henceforth, they would call themselves the Senate Liberal Caucus. And they will, er, act like Liberals. Later, when the Senate got going, this group insisted they would carry on as the official Opposition in the Senate. ...

Even Liberal attack-dog and Trudeau fan-boy, Warren Kinsella, thinks it's a dumb idea. On Brian Lilley's Byline, Kinsella called it an "absurd stunt".  Lilley also pointed out that Trudeau's gambit was contrary to the Liberal's own constitution which defines the Liberal caucus as including Liberal appointees to the Senate.

It sounds like the Liberals are a very confused bunch.  Obviously Liberal Senators had no say in Trudeau's grand "decision" to eject them.

Here's another decent summary of events:

Prime Minister Stephen Harper pounced on the apparent contradiction after Trudeau asked in the House of Commons whether the Conservatives would be following his party’s lead.

“I gather the change announced by the leader today is that unelected Liberal senators will become unelected senators who happen to be Liberal,” Harper said.

The prime minister also cited [Liberal Senate leader] Cowan’s comment about not expecting much to change, saying: “That has to be the understatement of the year.”

 This could be fun!

Ezra Levant defends our soldiers in the Star

Reps of the far left (Dosanjh) and nitwit (Kinsella) factions of the Liberal party have been playing fast and loose with accusations of torture against our military in its treatment of Afghan detainees. Ezra Levant has an excellent piece in, of all places, the Toronto Star where he offers Iggy some good advice on how and why he ought to get a grip on his party's position on this:

... The Liberals' increasing anti-troops radicalism shows how marginalized the party has become out of power. Four years ago, the Liberals could handle grave responsibilities of state like prosecuting a war. Now they indulge in sloganeering more suited to a permanent opposition party.

Ignatieff eventually apologized for his Israel war crimes comment. Will he ask Dosanjh and Kinsella to apologize for theirs?

Warren Kinsella’s strange hobby

Mark Steyn’s recent column in Maclean’s was about the reception his book has received from mainstream media outlets such as The Economist in the wake of Maclean’s being dragged into the infamous "human rights" kangaroo court system:

...in defending free speech in general, they usually feel obliged to deplore my exercise of it in particular... "alarmist screed...", "alarmist", "alarmist", etc

By "alarmist," The Economist and Co. really mean "raising the subject."

Whether or not it's "alarmist" to ponder what those consequences might be, under Canada's "human rights" kangaroo courts it might soon be illegal.

After a thorough review of recent alarming events, Steyn gets round to dedicated defender of kangaroo courts and intrepid Nazi hunter, Warren Kinsella:

Warren Kinsella posted on his website a photograph he'd taken in a men's room stall showing the words "WHITE POWER" and a swastika scrawled on the wall at knee height. Why Mr. Kinsella is photographing public toilets on his knees I don't know, but every guy needs a hobby. At any rate, Warren sees this loser's graffiti as critical evidence of the imminent Nazi threat to the peaceable kingdom.

Concluding:

Our heroes pursue phantoms as the world transforms. Is sharia, polygamy, routine first-cousin marriage in the interests of Canada or Britain or Europe? Oh, dear, even to raise the subject is to tiptoe into all kinds of uncomfortable terrain for the multicultural mindset. It's easier just to look the other way, or go Nazi-hunting in the men's room. Nobody wants to be unpleasant, or judgmental, do they? What was it they said in the Cold War? Better dead than red. We're not like that anymore. Better screwed than rude.

It’s a great column and that image of Warren is priceless.

And here I thought he was long gone.

Nevertheless, as might be expected, there are various scenarios circulating as to why this might be happening.

I don't mind being a minority voice - my views on human rights hopefully made that clear enough, in recent weeks - but, sometimes, you can only stomach so much. Being the father to an aboriginal child, for example, I have been appalled by the paper's positions on First Nations issues; they were horrible. On racism, on human rights, on a lot of things. It gets to you, after a while.

Puhleeez! The author of "Kicking Ass in Canadian Politics" is just too saintly and sensitive a soul to be associated with a paper that publishes something other than the stock socialist, multi-culti pap and pieties one might expect from, say, the ‘Star’? Bullcrap!

Ezra Levant has another theory.

Whatever. Just let me say, as a devoted reader of the ‘Post’, good riddance, Warren.

HRC colluding with Warman?

Mark Steyn on Richard Warman today:

What we have here is compelling circumstantial evidence of collusion between a serial plaintiff and his enablers at the CHRC.

I've written to the federal Minister of Justice about this matter. No reply so far.

Warren Kinsella & Richard Warman - rotten peas in a pod*

In recent days there’s been a blogospheric blizzard surrounding that illiberal Liberal hack and attack mutt Warren Kinsella and professional censor Richard Warman. Kinsella has been busy slagging Ezra Levant and Mark Steyn and at the same time boosting for his pal Richard Warman, lawyer, former HRC investigator and odious serial abuser of the odious HRCs’ odious censorship ‘system’.

I don't think Kinsella is a thinker; he's a doer, or more accurately an undoer. And his goal here was to confuse and chill the growing media scrutiny of human rights commissions generally, and Warman in particular. In a series of over-the-top blog posts (here, here, here, etc.), he has threatened a number of Warman's critics with defamation lawsuits if they didn't stop. It was classic war room style: stampede your opponents with enough threats and half-truths to panic them into a hasty over-reaction.

That reply is not just me being lippy; it's knowing the difference between empty, blustering, Kinsella-ish threats made as a political tactic, and a real legal problem.

If Kinsella, Warman and their ilk are the lead champions of the HRC censorship system, then that alone should be sufficient to completely discredit it. There’s little doubt their quasi-fascistic mentality is well represented within the HRC bureaucracy. After all Warman was once an HRC insider. That should scare the crap out of any reasonable person.
