I think its completely daft not to wear a helmet skiing or cycling... but that does not mean I am advocating forcing any other adult to wear one. Make your own choice... its your head!
But the again. If the taxpayer pays to fix your stupidity in a public hospital maybe we could lessen the cost of stupid personal decisions by legislating safety devices...
I agree, generally. I ALWAYS wear my auto seatbelt. I also insist my passengers wear them - so I won't be killed by their flying bodies in an accident. But there are times when I'd rather not wear a helmet for cycling (motor and bi).
Adults should be treated as such, not dictated to and infantalized by nanny-state totalitarians.
As for taxpayers paying for others' "stupidity" - that's another strike against government healthcare monopolies. They give nanny an excuse to stick her fat nose into what should be private decisions.
