James Lovelock's climate climbdown

Four years ago:

With 'Strombo' three years ago:

This week: "I was 'alarmist' about climate change" [via]
“The problem is we don’t know what the climate is doing. We thought we knew 20 years ago. That led to some alarmist books – mine included – because it looked clear-cut, but it hasn’t happened,” Lovelock said.
Lawrence Solomon: "Censored science":
"... why, when Lovelock this week recanted his past views on global warming as being “alarmist,” did virtually every major news outlet on the planet ignore his change of heart?..."

From one of the links you've provided: "The new book, due to be published next year, will be the third in a trilogy, following his earlier works, “Revenge of Gaia: Why the Earth Is Fighting Back – and How We Can Still Save Humanity,” and “The Vanishing Face of Gaia: A Final Warning: Enjoy It While You Can.”"

It sounds like his previous book (second in the trilogy) was "The Empire Strikes Back" of his climate trilogy...

I love at about 9:30 when Strombo asks him if he could be wrong, and he responds, immediately: of course there is. I'm a scientist...

Lovelock is no doubt "enjoying" a ton of hate mail from the AGW fanatics.

Well, based on the Strombo interview from a few years ago, I suspect he enjoys that. In the interview, he seemed quite happy to be disliked by environmentalists (for his advocacy of nuclear power).
