"One should doubtless keep an open mind...though open at both ends, like the food pipe, and have a capacity for excretion as well as intake." -- Northrop Frye, 'The Great Code'

Interesting that Canada agonizes over what should have been a no-brainer decision to contribute 6 F-18's. Contrast this with Belgium, which despite a government usually paralyzed by Flemish-Walloon antagonism, on Sept 26 quickly approved sending 6 F-16's plus transport planes by a vote of 114-2. (The planes had already been dispatched in anticipation of the vote). They dropped their first bombs Monday Oct 6.
Defense minister Pieter De Crem stated “We realise that there are risks attached to our participation, but we are not going to shirk our responsibility.”
"It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their consciences." -- C. S. Lewis
