Media hype about "fake news" is fake news being used to promote government subsidies for corporate media

Graeme Gordon recently penned two very compelling articles that shed light on "fake news" and how it's being misrepresented and incestuously abused by the Liberals and the MSM:

1) Hype over rise in fake news is fake news [behind Loonie Politics paywall], and

2)  "‘Shattered Mirror’ report’s suggestions to fix Canadian media ..."
On Thursday the Public Policy Forum (PPF) released its government-commissioned report, “The Shattered Mirror”,  which depicted today’s world as a “post-truth” dystopian nightmare.
... the report–GASP!–asks the reader to “imagine a world without news: how atomized and dysfunctional it would be.”  Of course the premise is absurd in the information age, where information is more accessible than ever before ...
... The report uses this fake premise of fake news influencing large majorities of the populace as a major reason why the government should step in to fund the legacy media

The left's lies about Stephen Bannon

Stefan Molyneux thoroughly de-bunks leftist smears against Steve Bannon.  He discusses the left's smear tactics, the hypocrisy, anti-semitism, racism and cowardice in their rhetoric about "white" nationalism.  Molyneux also concludes that the left's claims to champion diversity are phony; the left is not pro-diversity, they are only "pro-all-groups-who-vote-for-the-left" - it's why, for example, they support open borders - for votes. If they thought that poor Mexican border jumpers would vote Republican instead of (overwhelmingly) Democrat, they'd be clamouring for a giant wall - diversity be damned.

Lying Hillary

The Two Faces of “Green” Hillary Clinton
According to Wikileaks, at the same time Hillary Clinton was wooing the support of radical greens, at a behind closed doors meeting with pro-energy unions, she was telling those same radical greens to “get a life”.

Keystone XL: Obama's "Big Lies"

Peter Foster's list:
... His first Big Lie was to suggest that Keystone XL was an export pipeline.

He also lied by omission in failing to mention that it would also carry U.S. crude.

He blandly declared that Keystone XL would not serve “the national interest of the United States.” ...

... He claimed that Keystone would be “neither be a silver bullet for the economy, as was promised by some, nor the express lane to climate disaster proclaimed by others.” But while there is no doubt that radical environmentalists such as James Hansen had claimed that approving Keystone XL would be “game over” for the planet, no supporter had ever suggested that it would be an economic panacea.

... Obama weaseled that “The pipeline would not make a meaningful long-term contribution to our economy,” but then what is his idea of “meaningful?”

... Obama’s claim that the pipeline would not contribute to energy security was his next whopper. The U.S. still imports more than 4 million barrels a day from countries apart from Canada. They are all human rights abusers.

... Inevitably, he pulled out the “dirty” oil card, even though oil imported into the U.S. from Venezuela has a similar emissions profile.

... Obama then launched into fantasies about the success of virtuous “clean” investments

... before reaching the main reason for the pipeline’s rejection: it would have “undercut” America’s “global leadership,” which is to say his own political legacy.
... In sum, Justin Trudeau’s new government has just been thrown under the wheels of Obama’s mammoth self-regard, but all Justin can do is issue a press release declaring that he is “disappointed.”
Obama, Liar-in-Chief.  But I doubt that Trudeau is very disappointed.  Nor is his Gerald Butts' new Environment Minister, Catherine ("#CanadaIsBack") McKenna.

Mulcair's debate "zinger" a calculated lie

William Watson: Oops Mr. Mulcair, you just flunked your recession history
Instant reports on last week’s leaders’ debate suggested one of the most telling lines was Thomas Mulcair’s “Stephen Harper is the only prime minister in Canadian history who, when asked about the recession during his mandate, gets to say, ‘Which one?’”

That’s too bad. The line wasn’t especially well delivered ... and it was obviously canned

... Two more serious problems with Mulcair’s zinger are that it’s almost certainly not true and, beyond that, it’s just not very relevant. But apart from being wrong and immaterial, it was a great line.
Watson provides the record: MacDonald was PM for 6 recessions, Laurier - 4 recessions, Borden - 4,  King - 5, St. Laurent - 3, Diefenbaker - 2, Trudeau - 3 and Harper - 2.

How much more wrong could Mulcair be!  However, given that it was scripted implies that his "zinger" was a calculated lie, a cheap shot lie for scoring debating points.

Mulcair could have truthfully claimed that there have been no recessions during any NDP administration, but that wouldn't have scored him any points, except maybe for laughter.

Gay marriage - Some lessons from Canada for Americans on what to expect next

Brian Lilley breaks it down:

In stunning contradiction of his position a very short time ago, Obama was overjoyed with the US Supreme Court ruling, and even had the White House bathed in rainbow colors.  But his former senior adviser, David Axelrod, explained that there was no contradiction - Obama was lying.  Well, that's OK then!

Fact checking the Pinocchio-in-Chief

During his SOTU address yesterday Obama boasted about US diplomacy success in negotiations with Iran saying:
"... for the first time in a decade we've halted the progress of its nuclear program and reduced its stockpile of nuclear material ..."
That might be nice, except that "he outright lied"!

More fact checking at Politico and the WaPo.  Of note (from the WaPo) was his global warmist claim:
“2014 was the planet’s warmest year on record. Now, one year doesn’t make a trend, but this does – 14 of the 15 warmest years on record have all fallen in the first 15 years of this century.”
That may not have been a "lie", technically, because he was just regurgitating the NASA-NOAA-NCDC alarmist bullcrap.

TransCanada fed up with Foot-Dragger-In-Chief's glib KXL fabrications

Claudia Cattaneo:
... Twice Tuesday, [TransCanada] issued statements on the US$8-billion pipeline, one correcting the White House’s economic reading, the other questioning the “well-established” process involved.

... The tone is similar to that struck in recent months, when TransCanada president Russ Girling accused President Obama of “pure fabrication” when describing KXL as an export pipeline, or called into question the President’s environmental movement-inspired views on the project.

... President Obama’s glib views on the Canadian project are leaving TransCanada with no choice but to crank up the pressure — or die trying.

... “The review process for Keystone XL has been  anything but a ‘well-established process’,” ...
Corcoran has more.

Liars - York Regional Police "diversity" squad changes its story

The York Police having previously admitted to the Toronto Sun that they pressured the rabbi, the National Post reported:  Police deny pressuring rabbi to cancel speech ...

Pamela Geller responded, blasting the Post as well as the police:
... look at the agenda driven picture they [the Post] use ...
... The fascist cop, Insp. Ricky Veerappan, already admitted that they threatened the rabbi with his removal from the York chaplaincy, so how does the National Post run a headline like this? ...
More reaction from Pam Geller.

And from Mark Steyn - on York Regional Police's chief  "diversity" cop:
Get lost, creep. In free societies, a constabulary isn’t there to enforce its “values”, it’s there to uphold the law. This man is unfit for his job.   [I'll disagree slightly: He's not fit to be a regular law enforcement cop, but he's probably quite well trained and fit for his Orwellian role as "Diversity, Equity and Inclusion" enforcer.]
Blazing Cat Fur with Salim Mansur's letter to the York Police[Outstanding letter, Salim!]

UpdateOttawa Citizen editorial. Insp Ricky Veerappan, the YRP head of diversity enforcement, is a Muslim! (Doubly foul! Mighta' known.)

Emails: White House knew of Benghazi terror attack as it happened

And while the fires were still smouldering at the Benghazi consulate Obama shuffled off to Las Vegas for a campaign event.
This is worse than Nixon's Watergate debacle.

Michelle Obama - First Bullshitter

Fact Check: First Lady's False Fairy Tale of Struggle:
First Lady Michelle Obama’s pitch to voters last night relied on the premise that she and her husband understand what it is to struggle to make ends meet. She spoke movingly about their early years--about how a young Barack Obama drove a car that was “rusted out" and found his furniture “in a dumpster,” how they both came from families that had to “scrape by.” Her fairy tale--however well-delivered--was one great, big, colorful lie.
They attended elite schools: Michelle went to Whitney Young, the public magnet school for Chicago’s upper class, while Barack attended Punahou, the private prep school for the top stratum of Hawaiian society. They were accepted to Ivy League schools despite undistinguished credentials, and both attended Harvard Law School. ...
