Angry Foreigner - Swedish immigrant, Muslim apostate, atheist
Angry Foreigner is a very interesting guy introduced by Gavin McInnes on his show last Friday. His take on Sweden is instructive for Canadians and most other Westerners whose countries while not yet as badly screwed up as Sweden are headed that way fast - i.e. wrecked by neo-liberal insanity (immigration policy, political correctness, cultural Marxism, multi-culturalism, cultural relativism, identity obsession, etc, etc, etc).
Here he is in a long interview with American blogger and YouTuber, Tree of Logic:

The Khadr family, Canada's First Family of Terrorism and Treason - a (nearly) complete history
Beginning with an article back in 2004 Daniel Pipes has been keeping close tabs on the Khadr family.
His very comprehensive history is up to date except for this week's disgraceful Liberal government payment of $10.5M and official apology to Omar Khadr.

A national disgrace: CanadaTrudeau to reward a convicted killer and traitor
Brian Lilley's outstanding piece, explains, "by the numbers", exactly why the Trudeau Liberals' $10.5M payoff and apology to convicted terrorist, Omar Khadr, is a gross insult to loyal Canadian (and allied) veterans and taxpayers:
Update: Cheryl Gallant created a "Stop Payment" letter to Justin Trudeau. My response:
Update: Cheryl Gallant created a "Stop Payment" letter to Justin Trudeau. My response:
Please put a stop-payment on any cheque going to Omar Khadr until the widow of the medic he murdered has her day in court.
Any payment (much less $10.5M) and/or apology by the government of Canada to convicted, treasonous killer Omar Khadr is highly inappropriate. It is a gross insult to Canadian and allied veterans and to all patriotic Canadian taxpayers. The only apology owed here is your apology to all Canadians for your government's having entertained a payment and apology to Omar Khadr in the first place.Update: Too late. With Parliament in recess, the public beginning summer holidays and Trudeau safely out of the country at the G20 Summit (i.e. in the dead of night) the Liberal weasels paid off Khadr and issued a public apology.

Why is it that I haven't until just now encountered Conservapedia, the concise, family friendly alternative to the verbose, left-biased, right-censored, hearsay-infused Wikipedia?

The real Justin Trudeau - a perfect Manchurian Candidate
Stefan Molyneux and Ezra Levant discuss Ezra's new book "Trumping Trudeau" and much more including Trudeau's enthusiasms for authoritarianism, globalism, open borders, radical Islam, etc. and his disregard, even disdain, for Canadian traditions, values and history (i.e. its identity). Naturally, they also get into the media's role in promoting Trudeau with fawning coverage and omission and/or cover-up of his flaws and gaffs. It's a long but very comprehensive piece and well worth the time.

Thousands of peer reviewed scientific papers support skepticism of climate alarmism
A favorite ploy of climate alarmists is to deny the existence of "peer-reviewed" science supporting views skeptical of climate alarmism.
A good example of this is a Facebook post by a TV Weatherman yelling at skeptics telling them to "put-up-or-shut-up". Watts Up With That "put-up" - pointing to thousands of peer reviewed scientific papers supporting the skeptical viewpoint.

The "Trust Gap", "social licence" and the rule of law
Giant PR firm, Edelman, does a global annual survey to gauge of the "trust" the public has in its institutions: 1) Government 2) Business 3) Media, and 4) NGOs.
The people surveyed are categorized into three groups:
1) Informed Public 2) General On-line Population, and 3) Mass Population (all population excluding Informed Public)
The results are published in the "Edelman Trust Baraometer".
2016 Edelman Trust Barometer Widening Trust Gap
2017 Edelman Trust Barometer An Implosion in Trust! (Brexit, Trump, immigration/refugee crisis?)
Interesting, considering recent events but one does wonder about the validity of the results as a measure of "trust". If it isn't trust that's actually being measured, what is it? It's worth reading this bit of skepticism: "Can You Trust The Data On Trust?"
The surveys show that the "Informed Public", which includes the elites that control the four institutions, have much higher "trust" in those institution than the general public (ie the definition of the "trust gap"). Hardly a surprising result.
With the advent of Internet, the general public is in a position to be better informed and less subject to control of the message by the elites (especially the legacy MSM). A widening "trust gap" might be a natural consequence of this. However, a potentially serious downside is a diminishing respect for the rule of law and the constitution. For example, certain of the elites (Justin Trudeau for one) have been pushing the fuzzy notion of "social license" ("governments issue permits, communities grant permission"). In the case of pipeline approvals this suggests that decisions by lawfully appointed and mandated regulatory bodies (like the NEB) are subject to being overruled by vocal interest groups ("communities") who have no legal status. Mob rule is "permitted" to supplant the rule of law. Not good!

Climate alarmists hostile to facts that contradict alarmist exaggerations and lies
And, of course, hostile to the messenger of those facts:
The Seattle Times ran a hysterical story at the Washington Park Arboretum in Seattle. Cliff Mass, professor of Atmospheric Science at the University of Washington and no climate change skeptic, demolished the Times story in a strongly-worded blog post.
But perhaps more importantly, he goes on to describe the kind of pressure to which he is subjected to not post such corrections because of the ammunition it gives to “deniers”. It is an excellent exposition on the corruption of the scientific method that is rampant in climate science — not just the suppression of dissent, but the suppression of every small correction of the most exaggerated claims.

The "preening silliness" of the left's obsession with "cultural appropriation"
George Will:
... The hysteria du jour, on campuses and elsewhere, against “appropriation” illustrates progressivism’s descent into authoritarianism leavened by philistinism. This “preening silliness” — the phrase is from the Federalist’s David Marcus — is by people oblivious to the fact that, as Marcus says, “culture blending is central to the development of, well, everything.”
... Listening to Radio Luxembourg late one night, teenaged Keith Richards heard “Heartbreak Hotel,” and “when I woke up the next day I was a different guy.” Bob Dylan, a freewheeling cultural appropriator himself, said, “Hearing Elvis for the first time was like busting out of jail.” Those who would wall off cultures from “outsiders” are would-be wardens.

Canadian taxpayers' buy Broadway tickets for corporate FatCats
The Trudeau government spent $30K in taxpayers money giving out free tickets to a Broadway Play ...Come From Away ... Not only were tickets given to foreign diplomats – including reps from the United Nations, Qatar, and Kuwait – but wealthy bankers were also given tickets at taxpayers expense...
... the opposition grilled Freeland [who] had no good answers:
As an aside, unlike Spenser Fernando, I DO have a problem with the theme of the musical. It strikes me as cringe-worthy self-regard for Canadians to present a play in America, telling Americans how wonderful we were in their time of tragically obvious need [and, our government promoting the show, at taxpayers' expense, just compounds the problem]. Now, if Americans had created such a play to thank Canadians, that would have been something else.

Climate alarmism - Historical overview, inconsitencies and evidence of fraud
Climate skeptic Tony Heller (aka Steven Goddard) at the 34th Annual Meeting of Doctors for Disaster Preparedness, on July 9, 2016 presents an overview of the history of climate alarmism and its media coverage, inconsistencies between alarmist claims and the climate data record and evidence for fraudulent manipulation and altering of the record by NASA, NOAA and others. It's a rambling presentation covering, back and forth, the past century+ but leaves the definite impression that something is seriously amiss about the current climate alarmist narrative.
More:
Heller gave a similar presentation at a Washington State Senate hearing February 2017. Some senators (Dems) are skeptical of Heller's conclusions but it is interesting that Washington State is at least willing to hear from skeptics like Heller and Don Easterbrook (previous post).

Dr. Don Easterbrook's presentation to a Washington State Senate hearing in March of 2013 is an excellent summation of why we should be very skeptical of global warming alarmism:

Willis Eschenbach
Willis Eschenbach is a self-taught amateur scientist well known for his skeptical posts on climate change at Watts Up With That. Thanks to the alarmist propagandists at DeSmogBlog, whose mission it is, in part, to "debunk" climate "deniers", I came across this video of Willis's presentation at ICCC7. He talks about his research on "species extinction" and offers some interesting insights into the role of DNA and how it might work in helping species to survive radical changes in the environment (eg. surviving through multiple ice ages):
Far from "debunking" Mr. Eschenbach the video leaves one admiring him even more for his wit and natural intelligence.

Earth Hour 2017 - the many reasons to abhor it.
Earth Hour came and went again last night and I completely missed it. I only realized it today going over WUWT where Anthony had posted Ross McKitrick's classic compendium of reason's to abhor it.
I don't know if Bill Gates celebrated it or not but one of his recent tweets highlighted the amazing human progress over the last 200 years, much of it due to the availability of cheap fossil fuel:
As long as we ignore the purveyors of Earth Hour that progress will continue. Otherwise, not so much!

"Goodbye Sweden, Hello Swedistan" - Sweden's cultural suicide
The Liberal "Islamophobia" motion M103 controversy brought to mind Pat Condell's video of a few years ago on "the cultural suicide of Sweden". Comparatively speaking we're no where near Swedish levels of progressive insanity, yet, but this seems to be the direction the Trudeau Liberals are pointing the country:

President Ivanka Trump
Today's National Post, in it's ongoing Trump slurring mode, featured a front page column taking Ivanka Trump to task. The piece read like a snotty tabloid gossip column. It's heading and sub-heading read:
Many readers of the Post online publication, unlike the column's author, picked up on the most obvious symbolism behind that photo:
A future President Ivanka Trump (circa 2025, say)
Ivanka Trump doesn't know her place

Questionable media narrative in the Quebec mosque killings
"... the mainstream media ... obsessed with a new narrative based on a few 'likes' on [the alleged killer] Bissonnette’s Facebook page.
The discovery that Bissonnette liked two of the most popular politicians on earth (US President Donald Trump and France’s Marine Le Pen) quickly transformed the narrative into a story about a young right-wing extremist committing a terrorist act, even if no terror charges have been laid.
Bissonnette's Facebook "likes': on Canada’s leftist NDP Party page, as well as that of their former leader Jack Layton, have attracted far less media attention. ... "

BC trade school reverses bigoted anti-Israeli policy
The Island School of Building Arts (ISBA) is a trade school established on Gabriola Island, BC as a "Training Provider for the Log and Timber Frame Construction Industry".
Who knew that BDS bigotry would have, like termites, infested a woodworking trade school in the backwoods of BC? I certainly wouldn't have but for the Jerusalem Post and the Canadian Centre for Israeli and Jewish Affairs (CIJA).
From this morning's JPost:
A Canadian trade school reportedly turned down an Israeli student applicant simply for being Israeli.
[The school, foolishly assuming the moral high ground,] wrote ... that "It is sad that decisions being made halfway around the world impact us here as we have had a number of students from Israel attend the school in the past." The email continued: "This is a question of staying in line with our moral compass, which will always be important to us. We are still inclusive and cannot support that which is not inclusive."Following the CIJA's intervention later today they were able to report :
"We are pleased to announce that the ISBA has reversed its decision."That was fast work! Good show, CIJA.
FWIW, the incident garnered a fair bit of attention on Twitter.

Media hype about "fake news" is fake news being used to promote government subsidies for corporate media
Graeme Gordon recently penned two very compelling articles that shed light on "fake news" and how it's being misrepresented and incestuously abused by the Liberals and the MSM:

2) "‘Shattered Mirror’ report’s suggestions to fix Canadian media ..."
1) “Hype over rise in fake news is fake news“ [behind Loonie Politics paywall], and
2) "‘Shattered Mirror’ report’s suggestions to fix Canadian media ..."
On Thursday the Public Policy Forum (PPF) released its government-commissioned report, “The Shattered Mirror”, which depicted today’s world as a “post-truth” dystopian nightmare.
... the report–GASP!–asks the reader to “imagine a world without news: how atomized and dysfunctional it would be.” Of course the premise is absurd in the information age, where information is more accessible than ever before ...
... The report uses this fake premise of fake news influencing large majorities of the populace as a major reason why the government should step in to fund the legacy media.

Climate scientist Judith Curry calls it quits
Anthony Watts: "Yesterday, I was saddened to learn that Dr. Judith Curry had resigned her position at Georgia Tech..."
Mark Steyn comments on the abuse Curry endured from the disgraceful Michael E. Mann (among others):
Curry: “... the deeper reasons have to do with my growing disenchantment with universities, the academic field of climate science and scientists… I no longer know what to say to students and postdocs regarding how to navigate the CRAZINESS in the field of climate science. ... ”
“... How young scientists are to navigate all this is beyond me, and it often becomes a battle of scientific integrity versus career suicide.”
Mark Steyn comments on the abuse Curry endured from the disgraceful Michael E. Mann (among others):
I despise Michael Mann for many reasons, not least for the damage his peculiar insecurities have done to honest inquiry and scientific integrity. But his disgusting treatment of Dr Curry ranks high on my list. And, however long it takes, I will ensure that her prediction from 2012 comes true.

A manifesto for 2017
James Delingpole: Rules for Righties — a War-Winning Manifesto for 2017
2016 was a great year for most of us – but just because we’ve gained the beachhead doesn’t mean we’re going to win the war.
With Brexit and Donald Trump, we’ve done the equivalent of capturing everywhere from Pointe Du Hoc to Pegasus Bridge. But just like with D-Day, the worst of the fighting is yet to come. Our enemy is fanatical, determined, well organised. Plus, they still hold most of the key positions: the big banks, the corporations, the top law firms, the civil service, local government, the universities, the schools, the mainstream media, Hollywood…
